What is WWF all about??
WWF is uniquely placed as one of the world’s largest and most respected conservation organisations to work locally and internationally with its global partners to develop, embrace and implement lasting solutions to the environmental challenges we face.
Over the last few years Factorie has partnered with WWF to raise awareness and generate funds to support a number of projects from Earth Hour to Saving the Malaysian Tigers and now our new project on the Great Barrier Reef: The Turtle Rescue Mission.
Factorie and WWF are working together to achieve the following goals:
Turtle Rescue Mission
Factorie aims to increase the awareness of the threats faced by turtles in the Great Barrier Reef and help to raise funds for WWF’s conservation work to save these turtles.
Thanks to our customers’ support, Factorie has been able to purchase a research boat to assist Traditional Owner rangers in tagging and tracking turtles in the Great Barrier Reef.
WWF aims to significantly reduce the threats to marine turtles through the Turtle Rescue Mission conservation project.
FUNDS RAISED WILL GO TOWARDS:
- A Traditional Owner ranger program to train groups in the principles of turtle research, tagging and monitoring.
- Traditional Owner ranger patrols to tackle illegal hunting.
- Purchasing and developing a satellite tracking system to better understand turtle migratory patterns, where their habitats are located and the routes travelled between nesting and feeding habitats.
Save Malaysian Tigers
Factorie and WWF seek to draw attention to the plight of the world’s dwindling population of wild tigers, and raise vital funds to ensure the tigers' survival. Launched in the Lunar New Year for Year of the Tiger, this project, through the WWF Factorie product range supports WWF's on-ground projects in Malaysian forests. The funding provided by Factorie has been used to conduct camera-trapping surveys and anti-poaching patrols, allowed data to be collected on tiger population size, and helped train new tiger conservation team members.
This is all achieved through a WWF licensed product range which adheres to sustainability principles that cover sustainable sourcing, environmental standers and ethical labour standards.
